Krismosis

Krismosis, our linux distribution has been released. In the first hour of it being released, we got over 30 downloads, which is pretty cool, if I don't say so myself ;D

Krismosis is based on suse. We have chosen GNOME over KDE, and is only 32-bit as of right now. Later on, we will release a 64-bit version (Friday), a KDE Version (Friday, May 13th), and a server (Wednesday, June 1st).

For more information, visit the Krismosis Website. You can read up on the distro, find contact information, and download the .iso image.

Fake, Harmless Virus

This is a fun trick you can use to fool your friends into thinking they have a virus on their computer.  This is totally fake, so nothing will happen to your computer.  All it does is shut it down.  It will not erase any of your files.

1. Right click on your desktop, and create a new shortcut.
2. In the text box that comes up, type:

shutdown -s -t 15 -c "HARMFUL VIRUS DETECTED.  SHUTDOWN INITIATED.  ALL FILES WILL BE LOST."

3. Click "Next".
4. Type "Internet Explorer" in the text box, (no quotations).
5. Click "Finish".
6. Now that the virus is created, we need to make it actually look like Internet Explorer.  Right click your virus and click "Properties".  Click "Change Icon..." at the bottom of the "Internet Explorer Properties" window.  Click "OK" in the window that pops up stating "The file C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe contains no icons.  Choose an icon from the list or specify a different file."  This means nothing.
7. Now that you can choose the icon that you want click "Browse..." in the "Change Icon" window.
8. Navigate to "C:\Program Files[sometimes Program Files (x86)]\Internet Explorer\iexplore[sometimes iexplore.exe]"
9. Click "Open" after highlighting the iexplore [iexplore.exe] file.
10. Highlight the first icon in the "Change Icon" window and click "OK".
11. Click "Apply" in the "Internet Explorer Properties" window, and then click "OK".
12. Go back to your start menu and open "Command Prompt" (Start Menu→Run→cmd, Start Menu→type "cmd" in search box.
13. After opening Command Prompt, type "shutdown -a", (no quotations).  DO NOT CLICK ENTER!!!
14. Keep Command Prompt open, and go back to your desktop.
15. Double click your virus.  This is what it will look like when your friend opens "Internet Explorer" (your virus).
16. Go back to Command Prompt as fast as possible and click enter.  This will abort the shutdown process.
17. Close the virus box.
18. Delete the real Internet Explorer shortcut on the desktop, and move the virus that looks like Internet Explorer to the same place where the real one is.
19. When your friend opens Internet Explorer, he will have a "virus" on his computer.
